I've always wanted to come here. Stari Most (Old Bridge) is an indisputable symbol of Mostar, and the name Mostar actually means “bridge keeper". It is said that this limestone bridge built in 1567 during the Ottoman era was the longest single span stone arch on the planet at that time. But in 1993 during the War in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the more than 400-year-old architectural feat was destroyed due to shelling by Croats forces. After the end of the war, its reconstruction was undertaken with the support of UNESCO using Ottoman construction techniques and stones recovered from the wreckage of the original bridge. It was built, wrecked, and built again. Stari Most is forever a reminder of both the wisdom and stupidity of humanity.

Seeing once is not enough. So I came back in the evening.

Don't forget.
